Waste treatment
The basis of an efficiently integrated system of waste management involves reusing, recycling and recovering. An “integrated waste cycle” means (in addition to collection) selecting, reclaiming or disposing of the refuse. This may take a number of different forms depending on the operations which need to be carried out. These operations, which are all coordinated,
necessarily safeguard the environment and strictly adhere to current regulations.
The concept of an Integrated Waste System involves a 360 degree approach taking into account: production, collection, transport and technological options for the treatment and eventual digestion of the refuse. The aim is to optimize the various phases, using the contents in terms of materials and energy, reducing, at the same time, at minimum any impact on the environment
This ideally forms part of a wider scenario with sustainable management of the environment which impose an optimizing use of resources (among which are included not only raw materials but also waste) and minimizing any dispersal into the environment of polluting substances deriving from human activities.
Our integrated system allows us to offer the following process:
• UNSORTED WASTE SELECTION
by means of automated systems in order to recover all recyclable materials
• RECOVERING AND PACKAGING
of all recyclable refuse (paper and cardboard, plastic, metals, glass, etc.)
• RECOVER OF BIODEGRADABLE WASTE
with automatic selection and sieving systems
• TRANSFORMATION INTO ENERGY OF NON RECYCLABLE RESIDUAL WASTE
by incineration
• TREATMENT OF BIODEGRADABLE WASTE
with the use of automated shredding and pressing
• ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF TREATED LIQUID BIODEGRADABLE WASTE
with technologically advanced digesters
• PRODUCTION OF ELECTRICAL AND THERMAL ENERGY AND BIOMETHANE
deriving from anaerobic digestion processes
• COMPOSTING OF SOLID BIODEGRADABLE WASTE
• FINAL DISPOSAL
which must remain as an option only for waste which cannot in any way be reclaimed or treated; carried out by means of water purification and/or conferment to the waste tip.
In this context the landfill does not exploit the resources function, moreover carries a risk for the environment, and so must be an option only in the case of waste which cannot be reused or treated due to actual technical or financial conditions.
